Finding Water for the People of Africa
Hello Friends,

My name is Bertha and I want to tell you how, with the help of Village Water, we now have a well fitted with a pump delivering fresh water in the centre of our village, Situwa, here in the Western Province of Zambia.

This has saved me two hours walking each day to collect dirty water from a hole in the river bed that used to be our only source during the dry season and was badly polluted by wandering cattle.

That gives me an extra two hours a day to wash my children properly, to cook with clean water and to spend time cultivating and watering vegetables that my family needs.

Village Water paid £2,600 to drill a deep borehole that draws water from 50 metres underground, 52 weeks a year and cannot be affected by our cattle or other surface pollutants. Village Water is committed to a 5-year programme that will bring fresh water and sanitation to 100,000 people like us in remote areas of Zambia.

Please support them and help more families to have a healthy life.

Thank you,

Bertha Malongwi

PS. Our local health centre has recorded an 80% reduction in childhood diarrhoea through our improved water and sanitation. Everyone is amazed to hear this.
