Hello Friends, My name is Bertha and I want to tell you how, with the help of Village Water, we now have a well fitted with a pump delivering fresh water in the centre of our village, Situwa, here in the Western Province of Zambia. |
This
has saved me two hours walking each day to collect dirty water from a hole
in the river bed that used to be our only source during the dry season and
was badly polluted by wandering cattle.
That gives me an extra two hours a day to wash my children properly, to cook
with clean water and to spend time cultivating and watering vegetables that
my family needs.
Village Water paid £2,600 to drill a deep borehole that draws water from 50 metres underground, 52 weeks a year and cannot be affected by our cattle or other surface pollutants. Village Water is committed to a 5-year programme that will bring fresh water and sanitation to 100,000 people like us in remote areas of Zambia.
